Tritons Compete At 14th Annual BladeRunner Tournament

On January 2nd and 3rd the UC San Diego fencing team hosted nearly 200 competitors for the 14th annual BladeRunner tournament. The event served to provide excellent training to the team and to showcase UCSD to the larger fencing community. The team also earned some good results in a very strong competition. The best results for the Tritons came in women's foil. Team captain Pilar Alicea captured the gold, winning the event for the second year in a row. Freshman Rose Forcier fenced well, taking a bronze medal and senior Razan Faraj took 8th. In women's epee Vickie Mo took another medal for the Tritons with a third place finish. || CONTINUE

Tritons Defeat UC Irvine And Cal Tech On Saturday

The UC San Diego fencing team took on UC Irvine and Cal Tech at home in the UCSD Main Gym on Saturday. The results were decisive victories against all opponents and for every squad. The afternoon tournament started for the Tritons against Cal Tech. The men's team was undefeated, posting a perfect 27-0 record. The women did nearly as well, settling for a 23-4 victory, with women's epee supplying much of the fire power by going 9-0. The next and last opponent was UC Irvine.
