Darcy Ahner Named Head Coach for the UCSD Women's Track & Field Program
UC San Diego Director of Athletics Earl W. Edwards announced Thursday morning that Darcy Ahner has been named the new head coach for the women's track & field team. She served as the Associate Head Coach for the both the men's and women's teams in each of the last two years and has been an assistant coach for both squads since 2000. Ahner's appointment to the head coaching position makes UC San Diego one of the few NCAA Division II schools to have a different head coach for its men's and women's track & field teams. || CONTINUE
Tritons Place Four Student-Athletes on First Team Academic All-District VIII Squads
The UC San Diego men's and women's track & field teams placed four of its student-athletes on the ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District VIII squads on Friday. Senior Dan Noel and junior Todd Bettisworth earned the prestigious accolade on the men's side while senior Madeleine Flint and sophomore Jillian Sola garnered the honor on the women's side. The quartet will now move on to the next ballot for a vote to determine the Academic All-America squads as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). UCSD was the only school in the College Division of District VIII to have four of its student-athletes on the two squads. || CONTINUE
