After five seasons as head coach of the UC San Diego women's volleyball program, Tom Black will step down to take the head coaching position at Loyola Marymount, UCSD Director of Athletics Earl W. Edwards announced on Tuesday. Black will take over the Lions' program after guiding the Tritons to a 29-3 overall record and fourth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance in 2009. "I am truly grateful for all the opportunities UCSD has given me," Black said. "As a student-athlete and head coach, this university and athletic department have given me some of the most significant experiences of my life. Roxanne Brunsting Named 2009 Daktronics All-American
Roxanne Brusting of the UC San Diego women's volleyball team has been named a 2009 Daktronics All-American, it was announced on Friday. Brunsting, a sophomore from Chula Vista, led the Tritons with 494 digs this season and a team-best .955 reception percentage. The Daktronics All-American Honorable Mention award adds to Brusntings' AVCA All-American, Daktronics All-West Region, AVCA All-West Region and All-California Collegiate Athletic Association awards this season. UCSD finished the year with a 29-3 mark and advanced to the NCAA West Regional semifinal match. Other CCAA student-athletes honored with Daktronics All-American awards included Jane Chafeh of Cal State San Bernardino and Mackenzie Snyder of Chico State. || CONTINUE
