UCSD Sits In Seventh Place After Two Rounds At Cal State San Marcos Invite

The UC San Diego men's golf team returned to action on Monday, taking part in the Cal State San Marcos Invitational held at the San Luis Rey Downs Golf Course. The Tritons are currently in seventh place out of 12 teams with a two-round total of 603 and trail leader Holy Names University by 21 strokes entering Tuesday's final round. UCSD opened with a first round score of 304, but came back to shoot a 299 in round two to conclude the day at 27-over par. Junior Keith Okasaki is leading the way at 4-over par, 148 after carding rounds of 75 and 73 to claim a share of 15th place. Okasaki is three strokes in front of teammate Raj Samra, who's two-round total of 151 (76-75) has him in a tie for 23rd place. || CONTINUE

Tritons Finish Third At San Diego Intercollegiate Classic

The UC San Diego men's golf team returned to action for the first time in 2010, placing third against local competition at the San Diego Intercollegiate Classic on Tuesday at the Rancho Santa Fe Country Club. Raj Samra was the top individual finisher for the Tritons, placing in the top ten, as UCSD carded a two-round total of 629. UCSD finished ten shots ahead of San Diego State's "B" team and trailed host Point Loma Nazarene and the University of San Diego's "B" team. Head coach Mike Wydra will lead his team back into action during the Cal State San Marcos Invitational, taking place February 8-9 in Bonsall. || CONTINUE
