LA JOLLA, Calif. - Hot shooting and 12 three-pointers drove the University of California San Diego to an 84-45 drubbing of Cal State East Bay Saturday in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men's basketball action at RIMAC Arena.

The victory moved UC San Diego to 17-5 on the season and 12-3 in the CCAA and the Tritons are once again alone in first place.

UCSD trailed early in the game but turned things around quickly as the offense started clicking, to say the least, with just over 15 minutes left in the opening frame. Down 10-7, the Tritons out-scored their opponent 43-15 to put them ahead 50-25 at the half.

Senior guard Aleks Lipovic was 5-for-5 from behind the three-point line, while freshman forward Scott Everman was 3-for-3 from long range -- all in the first half. UC San Diego made 68 percent (17-25) of its shots overall and 73 percent (8-11) of its threes in the period.

The Tritons cooled off in the second half, but still finished with a 56 percent shooting percentage (29-52) for the night. They hit at a 44 percent clip from long range, making the 12 treys in 27 attempts.

An Everman three-pointer with 3:07 remaining in the game put UCSD up by 42 (83-41), its largest advantage of the contest.

The Tritons set season-highs for points, assists (20) and steals (9). They forced 16 Pioneer turnovers that led to 18 points. It was the second-straight night that UCSD held its opponent under 50 points.

Triton senior guard Adam Klie became the school's Division II career rebounding leader Saturday. Coming into the game, he needed just two boards and finished with six to move into the top spot on the list. Now with 569 rebounds, Klie surpassed Justin Brue, who hauled in 564 between 2009 and 2013.

Everman ended his night with a career- and game-high 18 points. He was 7-for-11 from the field and grabbed six rebounds as well. Sophomore center Chris Hansen had 17 points, Lipovic capped his total at 15 and sophomore guard Christian Oshita had 10. Junior guard Anthony Ballestero amassed a career-high nine assists.

Cal State East Bay, which fell to 12-11 overall and 5-10 in the CCAA, was led by Paramvir Singh's 12 points. The Pioneers made just 33 percent (17-52) of their shots.

UC San Diego heads to Los Angeles County to play Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 9 and Cal State LA on Feb. 11. Both games are set for 7:30 p.m. tips.
