AS A JUNIOR
IN 2009-10: Started all 25 games in his third season at UCSD...
Averaged 6.5 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game... Shot 52.1% from the
field to lead the Triton regulars and wrap up the season with a field goal
percentage of better than 52% for the second year in a row... Scored a
career-high 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting in a losing effort at Cal State
Dominguez Hills on February 4... Tallied a double-double of 12 points and 11
rebounds to help UCSD bounce back with a 83-77 win at Cal State L.A. two nights
later... Put in 12 points and hit a huge three as time expired to force overtime
against San Francisco State on January 16... The Tritons went on to win the game
91-86 in double OT... Scored in double figures four times on the season and
finished with double-digit rebound totals on six occasions... Set the school
record in the high jump with a leap of 7'3.25" for the UCSD track and field
team... Qualified for the NCAA Championships in Charlotte, N.C with the
SOPHOMORE IN 2008-09: Played in all 28 games on the season, coming off the
bench... Averaged 2.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game on the
season... Shot 52.2% from the field, hitting 24 of 46 shots... Hit all three of his
shots and scored a season-high seven points in UCSD's opener at San Diego State
on November 15... Also hauled in a then-career best five boards against the
Aztecs... Finished with six points, four rebounds, and a block in the Tritons' 80-67
victory over Humboldt State to kick off CCAA play on December 5... Became the
first athlete in school history to clear seven feet in the high jump for the
track and field team.
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 2007-08: Made
10 appearances in his first full season as a Triton... Scored his first point
at the collegiate level with a free throw at Cal State San Bernardino on
February 22... Both of his field goal attempts were from behind the arc.
2006-07: Redshirted the
season on the basketball court, but did compete for the UCSD track and field
squad... Earned All-CCAA honors in the high jump, finishing second overall with
a season-high leap of 6'9"... Narrowly missed out on qualifying for the NCAA
Division II National Championships as a freshman.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2006
graduate of Argonaut High School in Jackson, Calif., where he lettered in both
basketball and track and field... Helped guide basketball team to a 22-8
record and the Mother Lode League Championship as a senior... The team was the
SAC-Joaquin Section Runners-Up... Averaged 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.8
assists per game... Had personal-bests of 6'9" in the high jump and 21.0' in
the long jump... Was the state high jump champion.
PERSONAL: Born May 2,
1988... Parents are Mike and Debbie Ryan... Father played basketball and ran
track at UC Davis... Has an older brother named Mitchell who played football at
the University of San Diego... Peyton Manning is his favorite athlete... Forrest
Gump tops his movie list... Hitting the big three to tie the game and send it to
overtime against San Francisco State last year is his most memorable sporting
moment... Is an Economics and Psychology double major at Roosevelt College...
