Sam Sweitzer
Assistant Coach

Sam Sweitzer was named an assistant coach with the UC San Diego men's rowing program in July of 2016.

Sweitzer joins the Tritons after serving at UC Davis as the men's rowing head coach from 2008 to 2016. Sweitzer's responsibilities included organizing travel, boat maintinance and outreach programs in addition to running practices and workouts.

In 2015, he lead the Aggies to an American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) and a Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championship in the Men's Varsity 4+. Prior to that, in 2009, the Men's Varsity 8+ won silver at the ACRA National Championships.

In fall of 1995, Sweitzer was hired as the head men's coach for Sacramento State's rowing team. Under him and his staff, Sacramento State went on to win multiple championships and honors from WIRA.

Sweitzer graduatued from Sacramento State with a BS in physical education in 1994. He then pursued and obtained a master's degree in kinesiology from his alma mater in 1996.
