Liz Silva was named an assistant coach with the UC San Diego softball program in September of 2016.
Silva comes to UCSD after spending two years as the assistant coach (2015) and head coach (2016) of the varsity softball team at Hilltop High School in Chula Vista where she guided the team to two Metro-Pacific League titles and a semifinals berth in the CIF Division III Championship. Prior to her time at Hilltop High School, she was an assistant coach and co-head coach for Horizon Christian Academy from 2012-14.
Silva has worked with numerous travel ball teams in the past. She got her start with the Bonita Valley Girl Fast Pitch 8U and 10U (2007-09) and was an assistant coach for the San Diego Power Surge 16U (2012-2013) and San Diego Renegades (2014). Most recently she was an assistant coach for the SoCal Breaker 18U team in 2016.
Silva got her start in coaching working with the Eastlake High School varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams.
Silva played softball collegiately at Oklahoma State, graduating in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in health. She played catcher and second baseman for the Cowgirls and was an All-Big XII selection. Silva was also a member of the 1998 Oklahoma State team that finished third in the Women's College World Series that year.
