Carissa Kalaba
Assistant Coach

Carissa Kalaba was named an assistant coach with the UC San Diego softball program in October of 2016.

Kalaba comes to the La Jolla campus with 10 years of head coaching experience. She was most recently the head coach of Utah State from 2009-13. She coached one All-American and seven all-conference players. Kalaba's team also excelled in the classroom as she had 22 conference all-academic honorees, one CoSIDA Academic All-American and a 100% graduation rate during her tenure.

Prior to Utah State, Kalaba was the head coach at Biola University from 2004-09, where she compiled a 143-93 record as the all-time winningest coach in program history. She coached four All-Americans, 10 all-conference athletes and nine national scholar-athletes as well as having a 100% graduation rate.

Kalaba was the head coach as well as a social science teacher at Arcadia High school from 2000-04. She was named the 2004 CIF Woman of the Year.

Kalaba played softball collegiately at UCLA, helping the team win the 1999 NCAA World Series Championship and Pac-10 titles after transferring from Hofstra. She was an undergraduate assistant coach at UCLA during the 2000 season.

Kalaba graduated from UCLA in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in history. 

Kalaba is the older sister of UCSD associate head coach Jessica Millsap.
