LA JOLLA, Calif. - Solid hitting and late runs led the UC San Diego women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of league opponent Cal State Monterey Bay Friday in the second annual Reis Cup match at RIMAC Arena.
Scores of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) contest were 25-21, 25-20 and 25-23 in favor of UCSD, which improved to 9-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play. CSUMB dipped to 4-10 and 4-6 with the loss.

It was her fifth double-double of the season.

It was just the second three-set match for UC San Diego this season. The Tritons defeated Saint Martin's in straight sets back on Sept. 5 at the Wildcat Invitational in Washington state.
UCSD won the inaugural Reis Cup in 2013 as well, topping Cal State East Bay in four sets.
The Reis Cup is named in honor of former Triton standout Karen Reis, who died tragically in 2012.
UCSD hosts Cal State East Bay (5-10, 2-8) Saturday at 7 p.m. The Pioneers were swept at Cal Poly Pomona Friday. Prior to the start of Saturday's match, the UC San Diego Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014 will be introduced and banners will be unveiled on the walls of RIMAC Arena.
