|Position:||Assistant Director for Business Operations|
Heather Ledezma was named the Assistant Director of Business Operations in 2010 after spending three years as the program’s Human Resources Coordinator.
As the Assistant Director of Business Operations, Ledezma provides support to the business functions of the multi-funded, multi-functional Athletics Department with an emphasis on human resources. She handles a range of business functions including the department's human resources, gift administration, DSA, procurement, contractual relationships and risk management issues.
Ledezma manages the personnel and employment actions for career staff, contract coaches, camp counselors, student employees and volunteers. She is also in charge of processing recruitments, separations, evaluations, training and benefits administration and oversees all payroll accounting.
Ledezma manages various components of accounting in the Athletics Department including gift processing, assuring that the quid pro bono benefits are correctly calculated, documented and in compliance with university, and IRS statutes. She is involved with strategic planning committees and has contributed to writing the department's internal policies and procedures manual.
Ledezma has volunteered for the UC San Diego Women’s Conference, All-Staff Picnic, Diversity At Work Luncheon with C/LSA, and serves on the Staff Association Executive Board as well as the Staff Equal Opportunity Enrichment Program committee.
During her tenure, Ledezma has fortified the relationships between Athletics and the university's administrative units of Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting Disbursements and External Relations/UCSD Foundation.
Prior to joining the UC San Diego staff, Ledezma worked for US Portfolio Services in San Diego. Her responsibilities included management of employees and human resources, training new hires, coaching in customer service, company protocol and client interaction.
A San Diego native, Ledezma graduated from San Diego State University in 2007 with a degree in business management.
