Rich Hinzo begins the first year of his second stint as a coach at UCSD in 2012.

Hinzo was an assistant coach under Dan O'Brien for the 2007-08 season.

Hinzo possesses almost 40 years of baseball coaching knowledge, having coached at numerous high schools in the San Diego area as well as Southwestern College, San Diego State and Independent Minor League baseball.

In the off-season, Hinzo has coached in Canada and Colorado and at the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series in Wichita, Kansas.

Hinzo is still active playing adult baseball and men's senior softball.
