UCSD Cross Country BIO
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2009: Competed in five of six events in his second season with the program… Had a tremendous close to the year, finishing in the Tritons’ top five in the final three events… Highest finish came at the Triton Classic, where his time of 34:08.3 was good enough for 14th place… Was UCSD’s third-highest finisher and placed 24th overall with a final time of 26:39.6 at the CCAA Championships… Also had a strong showing at the NCAA West Regional, finishing 68th overall at 34:21.2.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2008: Ran in five events… Finished 25th in the team’s season opener, crossing the line at 24:18.9… His time of 27:41.9 at the CCAA Championships was good enough for 36th place individually… Took 47th at the SRU Pre-National Invite.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Brea Olinda High School in Brea, Calif.… Was a three-time first team all-league selection in cross country as a prepster… Led the team to league championships from 2005-07, including an undefeated campaign in 2006… BOHS qualified for the CIF Southern Section prelims each of his four years on the squad… the team advanced to the state championships in 2006… holds personal bests of 15:36 in the three mile, 26:40 in the 8k, 4:37 in the 1600, and 9:56 in the 3200… Also competed in track and field.
PERSONAL: Born July 5, 1990… Parents are Jonathan and Lori Svet… Has a younger brother named Mark… Can be found hanging out with friends, listening to music, cycling or playing soccer in his spare time… Lance Armstrong is his favorite athlete… Roots for the L.A. Lakers and USC… Is a Structural Engineering major in Warren College… Wants to attend grad school and run his own company some day.
