TURLOCK, Calif. ? Senior midfielder Laura Borenstein scored her fourth goal of the season at the 86:46 mark and that was all the UC San Diego women's soccer team needed to defeat Cal State Stanislaus 1-0 in a CCAA matchup Friday afternoon at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex.

With the win, the Tritons improved to 10-2-1 overall and took over sole possession of first place in the CCAA South standings with a record of 7-2-0 against league opponents. UCSD entered Friday's contest tied for the conference lead with Cal State San Bernardino, but reclaimed sole possession of the top spot when the Coyotes' contest with Sonoma State ended in a 2-2 draw. The Tritons have now won seven of their last eight matches.   

The Warriors fall to 5-4-4 overall and 1-4-3 in the CCAA with the loss, as their winless streak reached a season-long four games.

After over 86 minutes of scoreless play, the Tritons got what stood as the matches' only goal with overtime a little more than 13 minutes away. Junior midfielder Alexia Zatarain lofted a corner kick into the box, where freshman forward Sarah McTigue one-timed the ball to Borenstein for the goal and the game-winner in the 87th minute. 

Borenstein has now scored in back-to-back contests and ranks second on the team in scoring with four goals and an assist. The La Jolla native also scored UCSD's third goal in the 3-0 win over Humboldt State on Sunday.

Friday's score marked her first game-winner since October 15. 2005.  

The Tritons outshot the Warriors 15-9 for the match, with 11 of their offerings coming in the decisive second half.

Jessica Sitarz made six save for Cal State Stanislaus, while senior goalkeeper Jessica McGovern was credited with four en route to her fifth shutout of the season.

The Tritons, who own a 5-1 mark of the road in 2008, will look to keep the momentum going Sunday at Chico State. Tipoff for that match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
