LA JOLLA, Calif. - Former UC San Diego standout
Eric Leserman is now playing professionally as a member of the Axis Shanks Guibertin in Belgium's top division. A member of the Tritons from 2006-09, Leserman is continuing his career in the city of Mont Saint Guibert, located roughly 30 minutes south of Brussels.
A 6-1 libero, Leserman played a total of 341 career sets during his four-year career and graduated last spring as the program's all-time digs leader with 885. The back row specialist set the UCSD single season dig record with 282 as a junior in 2008 and helped the Tritons to a school-record 13 wins as a senior last season.
Leserman joins former Triton Jordan Hove in the professional ranks in Europe. A four-year letterwinner at UCSD from 1999-2002, Hove is in his seventh season playing for Marienlyst in Odense, Denmark. He has been a member of five Danish League Championship squads, including the 2004 SK Aarhus club that also featured former Triton and current assistant coach Eric Perrine.
A member of UCSD's NCAA Division III National Championship squad in 2000, Hove tallied 3,308 assists and 371 digs in a total of 343 career sets for the Tritons. He ranks second in career assists, while his dig total is 10th on the all-time charts. Hove also set the UCSD single season assist record with 1,185 in 2000.
