Katie Condon of the 2nd-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District VIII Team, it was announced on Thursday. Condon, a sophomore outside hitter from Pasadena, is second on the team with 215 kills while adding 125 digs. Off the court, Condon maintains a 3.53 GPA as a Human Development major. Out of 21 student-athletes selected to the All-District VIII team, Condon was one of four underclassmen.
Condon recorded a career-high 20 kills last season against Humboldt State. This year Condon has sent down at least 10 kills in 12 different matches, including a season-high of 14 kills on two occasions. She also has added 18 aces and 12 blocks for the Tritons.
To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.20 cumulative GPA and starter or significant reserve for her team.
UCSD is back in action on Friday when it travels to San Francisco State to take on the Gators. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in San Francisco.
