WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UC San Diego senior guard
Jordan Lawley was named the Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week for the week ending January 10, it was announced Monday by the conference office. Lawley averaged 24.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in two games last week, leading the Tritons to a two-game split with Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus.
Lawley scored a game-high 22 points on 6-for-11 shooting in UCSD's 77-68 loss to the Wildcats on Thursday, while also finishing with six boards, three assists, a blocked shot, and a steal. He was even better against the Warriors on Saturday, tallying season-bests of 26 points and 10 rebounds for his first double of the season. He was 6-of-12 from the floor and also dished out a game-high five assists to lead the Tritons to an 81-72 victory.
For the week, he shot 52% (12-23) from the field and converted 88% (22-25) of his free throws. The Lodi, Calif. native has now scored 10 or more points in seven straight games and reached the 20-point plateau in four of the last five.
This marks UCSD's first player of the week award this season and the first for Lawley in his career.
The Tritons will now host Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State this week to wrap up a four-game homestand.
