UCSD Announces Second Annual All-Academic Team

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC San Diego Athletics Department announced its second annual All-Academic Team on Thursday, recognizing the top student on each qualifying team for their performance in the classroom in 2009-10.

To qualify for the award, the student-athletes must be currently enrolled at UCSD and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the 2009 fall quarter. The student-athlete must also have been a member of the team the previous season.

“It's great to have an award that recognizes the individuals in our program that really standout in the classroom,” UCSD Director of Athletics Earl W. Edwards said. “It's student-athletes like this who really make us proud in our ongoing pursuit of both academic and athletic excellence.”

Recipients of the UC San Diego All-Academic Team award receive a $500 scholarship towards tuition and expenses.
