DAVIS, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's and women's swimming and diving teams came up short against UC Davis on Saturday afternoon on the Aggie campus. The UCSD women won 7-of-16 events but it was not enough as the Aggies edged UCSD 155-145.
Alex Henley won three events to lead the Tritons. On the men's side, the Tritons also won 7-of-16 events but came up short in a 174-122 loss. UCSD won both sprint events and the 400 free relay as
Daniel Perdew was a multiple winner in the 50 free and 100 fly. UCSD is back in action on February 10-13 at the PCSC Championships in Long Beach.
On the women's side, Beth Dong captured the Tritons' first win with a 10:34.99 time in the 1000 free. Henley won the 200 free in 1:53.61 and 500 free in 5:06.59. She also won the 200 IM easily with a time of 2:05.69. Mercedes O'Brien won the 100 breast in 1:06.29 and Carianne Cunningham won the 200 breast in 2:22.64.
In diving, Danie Niculescu won on the three-meter board with 254.33 points. She also finished second on the one-meter board.
On the men's side, Juan Pablo Carillo won the 100 breast in 57.38 and Perdew won the 50 free in 21.16. Perdew won the 100 fly with a time of 51.29. Todd Langland won the 100 free in 46.58 and Jon Masehi-lano won the 200 breast in 2:08.22.
The UCSD 400 free relay team of Todd Langland, Julius Espiritu, Blake Langland and Perdew won with a time of 3:05.80.
In diving, Bryan McGrory won on the three-meter board with 267.90 points.
