Tritons' Trip to Arizona Features Five Opponents in Three Days

Ling and Dixit Combine for Tritons' Lone Win During Day One of Doubles Championships

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's tennis team began competition Thursday at the 121st Pacific Coast Doubles Championships and the pair of Naveen Dixit and Sam Ling combined for the Tritons' lone victory on the day, topping the duo of Eugene Lopez and Angel Lopez, 7-5, 6-2.

In other action Thursday, UCSD's Ryan Agbayani and Junya Yoshida lost to Eddie Acuna and Alan Chang, 6-4, 7-6 (10-6). Tritons' Chapman Chan and Vincent Nguyen were dealt a 6-2, 6-1 loss by the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps pair of Robbie Erani and Ronald Wu.

UCSD's top-ranked doubles duo this spring season, featuring Armaun Emami and Austin West, will play Stanford's Gregory Hirshman and Ted Kelly at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Tritons' Erik Elliott and Jake Follow, holding a 6-2 doubles record in 2010, are also set to challenge Cardinal opponents in a 9 a.m. Friday match with Matthew Kandath and Denis Lin.

The doubles tournament is held at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
