UCSD opened Friday's scoring by winning two of the three doubles matches. Juniors Jake Fellow and Erik Elliott improved to 9-2 as a pair, topping SSU's Anthony Rollins and Aaron Hamilton at the No. 2 position.
Along with the victories from Nguyen and Ling, freshman Junya Yoshida contributed a critical point by defeating the Seawolves' Drexler Dy at the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 6-3. Yoshida has put together a stellar 7-1 record in his freshman campaign.
The No. 28 Tritons will look to build on their five-match winning streak within the region on Saturday when they host No. 43 Hawaii Hilo at 2 p.m.
