UC San Diego Kicks-Off 2010 In Ann Arbor

No. 17 UC San Diego Hosts Cal State San Bernardino And No. 20 Brown On Saturday

LA JOLLA, Calif. -The 17th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team (11-14) hosts Cal State San Bernardino (13-14) and No. 20 Brown (17-6) on Saturday, April 3 at Canyonview Pool. UCSD is undefeated all-time against both opponents, having won all 14 meetings against CSUSB and all three meetings against Brown. The Tritons have been on a roll, winning nine of their last 11 games. Last week the Tritons defeated two, higher-ranked opponents in one-goal victories over No. 18 Cal State Bakersfield and No. 15 UC Davis. UCSD also nearly upset No. 5 Hawaii, losing 10-8 in overtime to the Rainbow Wahine.

Cal State San Bernardino went 0-4 at last week's Roadrunner Invitational. The Coyotes lost to Sonoma State 8-5, Fresno Pacific 9-8, UC Davis 14-4 and UC San Diego 11-5.

The Coyotes have one competition on March 31 against Redlands, before making the trip to La Jolla.

CSUSB is led by Lenzie Quist with 40 goals, 29 assists and 50 steals. Misty Vu adds 29 goals, 27 assists and 21 steals, while Kaitlin Hartman has scored 32 times with 22 assists and 14 steals.

In goal, Bryanna Burns has recorded 255 saves and allowed 228 goals in 27 games.

Brown is 17-6 and will face USC, San Diego State and Cal Baptist on April 1-2 at San Diego State, before making the trip to La Jolla to face the Tritons.

Brown was also in action at last week's Roadrunner Invitational, defeating Sonoma State 8-4, Fresno Pacific 12-4 and Cal State Bakersfield 9-7. Brown lost to UC Davis 10-6.

The Tritons enter the week having won nine of their past 11 games. UCSD went 4-1 last week, including four wins at the Roadrunner Invitational.

Kirsten Bates leads the Tritons with 46 goals while Stephanie Heinrich has scored 37 goals and Audra Bloom has netted 36 scores. Hanalei Crowell is the assist leader with 31, while Bloom has added 24 assists. Bloom leads UCSD in steals with 45 while Crowell has tallied 28 steals.

Markayla Quane has a shot to break her own single-season school record of 275 saves, set in 2009. Quane will look to add to her current save total of 231 this week.
