ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The highly anticipated men's tennis matchup Sunday between No. 30 UC San Diego and No. 38 Sonoma State was canceled because of heavy rains in Rohnert Park and the surrounding area.
The Tritons finished their short trip to Northern California with one win and one loss, after topping UC Davis on Friday 4-3 and then dropping a 5-2 decision to UC Santa Cruz on Saturday.
UCSD, currently 11-10 overall this season, will return to action on Thursday with a 1:30 p.m. road match against No. 45 Cal Poly Pomona. The next contest, an April 21 road meeting with UC Riverside, concludes the Tritons' regular season.
The 2010 NCAA Division II postseason begins on May 8. The top four teams from the West Region advance into the 64-team field. In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, the highest-ranking squads in the West were Hawaii Pacific, BYU-Hawaii, UCSD and SSU, listed from first to fourth respectively.
