TURLOCK, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's golf team carded a two-round score of 616 on Monday and currently sits in 14th place out of 17 teams competing at the Hanny/Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf and Country Club. The Tritons shot consecutive rounds of 309 and 307 and trail leader Cal State Stanislaus by 34 strokes entering Tuesday's final round.
As a team, the Tritons are currently 40-over par after the first two rounds on the 6,641-yard, par-72 layout. The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning.
Freshman Anubhav Rastogi is leading the way for UCSD at 5-over par, 149 after carding rounds of 75 and 74 on Monday to claim a share of 24th place individually. He has a five-stroke lead over teammate Raj Samra, who's two-round total of +10, 154 (75-79) has him tied for 50th place.
Keith Okasaki was the Tritons' next-best finisher, posting a +12, 156 (77-79), while Richard Morris rounded out the scoring for Mike Wydra's squad with a two-round total of 158 (82-76).
The host Warriors lead the field after two rounds at 6-over par, 582. Cal State Stanislaus carded rounds of 295 and 287 to take a three-stoke lead over second place Grand Canyon heading into the final round. GCU posted a two-round total of 585 after firing rounds of 297 and 288. Cal State Monterey Bay is currently third at 586 (289-297), while Sonoma State is fourth at 591 (296-295).
Cal State San Bernardino's Gene Webster Jr. is the individual leader after two rounds, concluding the day at 9-under par, 135. He followed an opening round 68 with a 67 in round two. Cavin McCall and Ryan Indovina of Cal State Dominguez Hills are second and third at 138 (69-69) and 140 (70-70), respectively.
