LA JOLLA, Calif. -The 18th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team (15-17) hosts Chapman (7-20) on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at Canyonview Pool. Last week the Tritons notched wins over Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State, but lost to Colorado State, No. 3 Cal and No. 6 San Jose State. Stephanie Heinrich shortly before first sprint. UCSD is 6-0 all-time against Chapman, with the last win coming in 2009, a 20-8 UCSD triumph.
Chapman played four times last week with a win at Cal Tech by a 16-7 score. Chapman lost to Azusa Pacific, Whittier and Cal State Northridge.
The Panthers are led by Arielle Worthington with 45 goals while Samantha Martin and Rachel Graham have scored 24 goals apiece. Ani Marganiar leads Chapman with 64 assists and 48 steals.
In goal, Alicia Wei has a team-high 147 blocks while Celia Huling has added 78 blocks.
The Tritons will be honoring their five seniors shortly before the 6:00 p.m. first sprint. Sorenson had her top game during the 2009 season with 14 blocks against Michigan in her first collegiate start in the cage. This season Sorenson has played utility and scored a goal against Pomona Pitzer at the Triton Invitational.
Bloom has scored 80 goals in her career and tallied 109 steals. She is one of four, four-year letterwinners on the Tritons.
Bocian has earned WWPA All-Academic, WWPA All-Conference and CWPA All-American honors, scoring 30 goals in her career.
Quane holds the school record with 275 saves, set during the 2009 season. Quane has amassed over 410 career saves which ranks as the fourth highest total in school history.
Heinrich is second on the team in goals scored as the 2009 All-American scored five goals in a recent victory over No. 20 Brown. Heinrich has also earned a WWPA Player of the Week award this season.
Kirsten Bates leads UCSD with 59 goals and is second on the team with 40 steals. Heinrich is second in scoring with 50 goals while Hanalei Crowell paces UCSD with 42 assists. Bloom is the assists leader with 55.
Markayla Quane has tallied 254 saves in goal.
