LA JOLLA, Calif. - Kirby St. John of the No. 1 ranked UC San Diego baseball team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team it was announced on Thursday. St. John, a Communications major, maintains a 3.56 GPA in the classroom. The four-year letterwinner also stars on the mound for the Tritons with his 10-1 record, 4.04 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 71.1 innings of action.

Earlier this week, St. John was named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Conference team, his second All-Conference award of his career.

On Thursday night, the Tritons defeated No. 29 Chico State to advance to the CCAA Tournament semifinals against No. 25 Cal State Dominguez Hills. First pitch of Friday's game is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Klein Family Field in Stockton.

St. John has won 10 of his 12 starts this season, with his only loss coming in relief duty in his first appearance of the year against Point Loma.

St. John has pitched at least six innings in half of his starts and given up three earned runs or less in 10 different appearances.
