NEW
ORLEANS - The UC San Diego track and field program had six
student-athletes named to the 2010 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team, it was announced this week.
UCSD's Marie Archer, Kelly Fogarty, Anna Lee McGregor, Leah Murphy and Linda
Rainwater were named to the women's team, while Leon Baham was the
Tritons' lone representative on the men's side.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All‐Academic
Track and Field Team, the student‐athlete
must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either
the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or
participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including
preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
Archer, Fogarty, and Rainwater represented UCSD at the NCAA Division II National
Championships in May, where the Triton women finished 16th in the
team standings. Fogarty turned in a stellar performance, becoming the first
female sprinter in program history to earn All-American status in both the 100
and 200 after finishing sixth and seventh in the two events, respectively. She
also set the school record in the 200, clocking in at 23.96 in the
preliminaries on the second day of competition.
Rainwater battled through an injury to finish 11th in the high jump,
while Archer finished 13th in the hammer throw. Baham was one of
four Tritons competing in the NCAA Championships on the men's side, taking part
in the 400 hurdles.
