Alex Henley and Emily Adamczyk Post Qualifying Marks for Olympic Trials

LOS ANGELES - At the Los Angeles Invitational held this past weekend at the University of Southern California, two more Triton swimmers - Alex Henley and Emily Adamczyk - joined teammate Nick Korth by posting Olympic Trials qualifying marks in their specialties.

On Saturday, Henley swam in the conoslation final of the 200 meter backstroke and finished 12th in the event, touching the wall in 2:17.47. The senior three-time NCAA Division II champion had narrowly missed getting her first Olympic Trials qualifying time in the preliminary heat, coming in just .03 seconds over the required time of 2:17.99.

"This is just such a great feeling for her and the team," said UCSD assistant coach Matt Macedo. "Alex has busted her butt for 15 years to get to this point, and it is great to see her rewarded for those years of hard work."

The very next day, Adamczyk joined Henley and Korth, who qualified in the 100m Breaststroke at an earlier summer meet, by garnering her first Olympic Trials qualifying mark in the 200 meter breaststroke.

Adamczyk a junior who placed third in the 200 yard breaststroke at the 2011 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, placed seventh Sunday, clocking 2:35.21 to beat the qualifying standard by .78 seconds.

Macedo was extremely pleased with the swim, stating, "Emily swam exactly the way she has been trained for this event, and her ability to focus and persevere was evident from the start of the race."

The 2012 USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials will be held June 25 - July 2 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. Henley, Adamczyk and Korth follow a rich Triton legacy of having at least one athlete achieve Olympic Trials qualifying marks since 2000.

Korth's time currently ranks him 35th in the country, while Adamczyk's time places her 45th and Henley's mark puts her 47th.
