Release: Thursday 12/06/2012
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Junior center back Alec Arsht of the UC San Diego men's soccer team added another postseason honor to his haul this week in being named to the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division II Men All-West Region Second Team.

Arsht, out of Oak Park, was already selected last month as a second-team All-American and first-team All-West Region player by Daktronics, Inc. He was previously a first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) pick.

Arsht started 14 of 16 matches played for UCSD in 2012. He is now a two-time NSCAA All-West Region honoree, having earned placement on the third team as a sophomore in 2011.

UCSD completed the 2012 season with a 9-4-4 overall record and in third-place in the CCAA South Division, one spot and three points out of its first CCAA Championship berth since 2005.

The Tritons finished as the top defensive team in the country, with the best goals-against average (0.44) and shutout percentage (0.71) in all of NCAA Division II.
