LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego's Anji Shakya was named Tuesday by CollegeSwimming.com as the Counsilman Hunsaker Division II Women's Swimmer of the Week for the week of Feb. 11-17.

Shakya led the third-ranked Triton women to a fifth straight league title at the 2013 Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference (PCSC) Championships at the Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatic Center this past week.

The junior co-captain won all three of her individual finals, added a relay victory, broke two conference records and two school marks, and was ultimately named the female MVP at the conclusion of the meet on Saturday night as the top point-scorer on the women's side over the four days of competition.

Shakya won the 200 free (1:48.24), 500 free (4:48.19) and 200 back (2:01.35), while also anchoring the first-place 800 free relay (7:26.45) on the first night Wednesday. Her 500 time broke a 20-year-old meet record (4:51.06) and also lowered her own school mark (4:51.14), both by almost three full seconds. Her time in the 200 free bested Triton legend Alex Henley's meet record of 1:48.85 and just got under her school record of 1:48.27.

Shakya had already won individual PCSC crowns in both the 200 free and 500 free as a freshman and sophomore, and is now a seven-time individual league champion. She is also the Tritons' third national weekly honoree in 2013 after fellow co-captain Beth Dong (Jan. 8) and sophomore standout Dane Stassi (Jan. 30).

The UCSD men and women now await the 2013 NCAA Division II Championships in Birmingham, Ala., March 6-9. With Shakya already assured of a third straight trip to the national meet, the full list of Triton qualifiers should be revealed on Wednesday.
