With its second straight loss, UCSD dropped to 24-5 overall and 16-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). CSULA, which swept the season series, improved to 16-13 and 11-10. The fourth set featured 13 tie scores and seven lead changes. A kill by Brenton gave UCSD a 27-26 lead, but the Golden Eagles closed out the match with three straight points on kills by Bethanee Boggs and Kymberly Silveyra and an attack error by the Tritons.

Cal State L.A. downed UCSD in five sets at RIMAC Arena on Oct. 19.
