NFCA member coaches in the eight regions selected this year’s All-Region teams and all honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three NFCA Division II All-American squads to be announced the night of Wed., May 21.
Grant was tabbed an All-West Region First Team outfielder after starting 48 games in 2014. She led the Tritons in multi-hit games (22), batting average (.433), on base percentage (.475), runs (49), total bases (77), stolen bases (18) and hits (71). She ranked 31st nationally and finished second on the UCSD single season all-time list in batting average. It marks the first such honor for the Chatsworth native.
Brown, an All-West Region Second Team utility honoree, started in 51 games and led UCSD in RBI (36), doubles (12), multi-RBI games (9), walks (15) and co-led in home runs (3). The senior concluded her career second on UCSD career RBI list with 124, third on the career home runs list with 23 and second on the walks list with 84. The Rancho Palos Verdes native is now a two-time NFCA award winner, the first coming in 2012 as a first team member.
The Tritons concluded the season 34-18. UCSD made its fourth straight appearance at the NCAA West Regional and finished with at least 30 wins or more in the eighth consecutive season under head coach Patti Gerckens.
