SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos, on Saturday.
The meet was highlighted by UCSD wins in the men's (3:18.53) and women's (3:55.78) 4X400 and men's (41.61) 4X100 relay events. The Tritons did not enter a team in the women's 4X100.
Emmanuel Elijah came in second in the 100 with a wind-aided time of 10.81. Paul Doan came in fifth at 10.87 and Justin Hunter was seventh at 10.93, both wind-aided.
Haley Libuit and Ellexi Snover took the top two spots in the women's javelin with throws of 133'4" and 127'3", respectively. Travis Vandegriff won the men's javelin with a 174'4" throw.
Matt Bowen was the first collegiate, second overall, in the men's long jump with a mark of 22'9". Sean Cook was fourth with a jump of 21'8.25". In the women's long jump, Case Buck took fourth with a distance of 17'0.75".
In the 400, Jared Senese (48.85) and Connor Macky (49.05) came in second and third, respectively, and grabbed personal-bests in the process. Ellexi Snover (57.56), Jackie Chalmers (57.61) and Marisa Padilla (58.01) came in fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the women's side of the 400.
Chantia Justice and Kristin Sato went 1-2 in the triple jump with marks of 38'2" and 37'4.5", respectively. Derek Van de Streek was the first collegiate and second overall in the men's triple jump with a 46'10.75" performance.
Kristin Semancsin won her heat, seventh overall, in the 800, crossing the line in 2:19.23.
Meghan Fletcher was fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.73.
The Tritons will split up for their next meet. The decathletes and heptathletes will compete at the California Invitational on April 15-16 in Azusa while others will compete at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays on April 16-18.
