LA JOLLA, Calif. - The No. 13 University of California San Diego women's tennis team blew past No. 50 Stanislaus State 8-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Northview Tennis Courts. The women remain undefeated, sporting a perfect 5-0 record on the season.
UCSD swept the singles matches, with Britta Mosser leading the way at No. 1. She defeated Cassidy Ferrell 6-3, 6-1.
At No. 2 and 3, Ashley Chao and Becky Chou defeated their opponents 6-3, 6-3 and 1-6, 6-1 (13-11) respectively. Chao beat J'Ana Diamond and Chou took care of Jaella Conway.
Jasmine Hosseini, Alexandra Weil and Valeria Corral also took wins at the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots. Hosseini defeated Ebone Qualls 6-2, 6-0, Weil beat Sooni Seul 6-0, 6-0 and Corral rounded out the singles games with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kristi Van Diver.
In doubles, the Tritons saw their only loss, with Mosser and Shannon Theisen falling to Cassidy Ferrell and Jaella Conway, 8-1.
At No. 2, Chao and Chou defeated Diamond and Qualls, 8-2. At No. 3, Weil and Madison Hale blanked out Van Diver and Seul, 8-0.
UC San Diego will return to the Northview Courts on Tuesday, Feb. 21, for a 2:00 p.m match against Eastern Michigan.
