TRITONS SET NEW CCAA WINS MARK
UCSD's victory over Humboldt State on Feb. 18 was the team's 16th CCAA win, the most since the program joined the conference for the 2000-01 season. The Tritons' previous high was 15, reached last season when the team went 15-5.
THREE'S A CROWD
The Tritons hit 18 three-pointers against Humboldt State on Feb. 18, their most since making 18 against Cal State Monterey Bay in March of 2007. In 2004, they netted 19 against Chico State, the most since moving to Division II for the 2000-01 season. Scott Everman nailed eight treys vs. HSU, the most since Robbie Peters hit 13 in the 2007 game against CSUMB.
WHAT? EVERMAN!
Scott Everman's career-high 28 points against Humboldt State on Feb. 18 were the most by any Triton since current assistant coach Drew Dyer went for 29 vs. Chico State in January of 2015. Everman drained eight three-pointers in the game, seven of those coming in the first half.
IN THE WEST
The second NCAA regional rankings of the season were released on Feb. 22. In the West, it goes California Baptist, UC San Diego, Western Washington, San Francisco State, Chico State, Sonoma State, Hawaii Pacific, Dixie State, Alaska Anchorage and Western Oregon. The top eight teams in the final ranking qualifying for the NCAA West Regional.
KLIE BREAKS REBOUNDING RECORD
On Feb. 4, Adam Klie grabbed six rebounds against Cal State East Bay to become UC San Diego's Division II (since the 2000-01 season) career leader. At the end of the night, he had 569 boards to his name, surpassing former leader Justin Brue, who totaled 564 between 2009 and 2013. Paul Trainer (1971-75) is UCSD's all-time leader with 1,094 rebounds.
POINT BREAK
UC San Diego is giving up just 62.6 points per game to opponents. That average is the third-best in the country. The Tritons have surrendered 50 or fewer points in three of their last seven games, including a season-low 41 to Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 3.
FROM BALLESTERO
Anthony Ballestero dished out a career-high nine assists versus Cal State East Bay on Feb. 4, topping his previous best of five. The nine helpers were the most by a Triton in a single game since James McCann had 10 on three occasions during the 2013-14 season.
BEST-EVER CCAA START
This season, UCSD recorded its best-ever start to a CCAA campaign since joining the league in 2000. The Tritons' win against Cal State LA on Dec. 29 put them at 5-0, eclipsing their previous best mark of 4-0 to kick off the 2015-16 league slate. They went on to improve to 9-0 before suffering their first league loss at Sonoma State on Jan. 14, 2017.
STREAKING
UC San Diego is currently riding its second seven-game win streak of the season. The streaks (also accomplished once last season) stand as the longest in the team's Division II history (since the 2000-01 season).
BIG SHOT
With six made baskets at Cal State East Bay on Jan. 7, Adam Klie brought his career total to 450, the most by any Triton since the team moved to Division II status for the 2000-01 season. Klie passed current volunteer assistant coach Drew Dyer, who drained 449 field goals between 2012 and 2016.
KLIE JOINS EXCLUSIVE CLUB
Adam Klie recorded his 500th career rebound on Dec. 30 vs. Stanislaus State, making him just the second Triton to amass 1,000 points and 500 boards during UCSD's Division II era (since the 2000-01 season). Current volunteer assistant coach Drew Dyer is the other Triton to accomplish the feat. He totaled 1,333 points and 563 rebounds between 2012 and 2016.
LIPOVIC RETURNS
Aleks Lipovic made his return to the Triton lineup on Dec. 12 against No. 13 Western Washington. He hadn't played since suffering a leg injury against Sonoma State on March 1, 2016. Lipovic, who started 25 contests in 2015-16, missed the final three games of last season in addition to the first eight of this season. He got his first start of 2016-17 at Cal State East Bay on Jan. 7.
HOLDING ON
The Tritons have done a stellar job keeping the ball to themselves this season, averaging just 10.4 turnovers/game, which ranks 11th in the country. The team's 280 turnovers are the eighth-fewest in the nation. On Dec. 19, the Tritons turned the ball over just four times against Cal State Dominguez Hills, a season low.
THE LUMBERJACKS
Humboldt State enters Tuesday's game at 13-15 overall and 7-13 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks tied for ninth place in the regular season standings with Cal State San Bernardino but won the tiebreaker for the eighth and final tournament berth due to a 1-0 head-to-head record against the Coyotes this year (Cal State San Marcos finished in fifth place, but is ineligible for postseason play). Three players are averaging in double figures including Tyras Rattler, Jr. (13.6), Nikhil Lizotte (13.4) and Malik Morgan (12.1). Calvin Young is grabbing a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game. As a team, HSU is putting up 78.3 points per game and surrendering 79.1 to opponents.

The Tritons went 7-3 against teams ranked in the national top 25. A seven-game win streak to start the season was the team's best in DII play. They led the CCAA in scoring margin (7.9), three point field goal percentage (37.6), three point field goal percentage defense (28.1) and defensive rebounds/game (28.2).
