LA JOLLA, Calif. - Adam Klie of the University of California San Diego men's basketball team has been selected to the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region First Team. The announcement was made Monday by the D2CCA.

Klie, the 2017 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Year, leads UC San Diego in scoring (15.1 points/game), rebounding (6.3 rebounds/game), assists (4.7 assists/game), and field goal percentage (.507).

A senior guard, Klie has totaled 10 or more points in 27 of 32 games played, including a career-high 29 against Humboldt State in a CCAA Tournament win on Feb. 28. He also established a single game best with nine assists in an NCAA West Regional win over Dixie State on March 10.

This season, Klie became UCSD's Division 2-era (since 2000-01) leader in career points, rebounds, field goals made and minutes.

He was also named the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year as a bioengineering major with a 4.0 GPA.

A three-time All-CCAA pick and the 2014 CCAA Freshman of the Year, this is Klie's first all-region award.

The D2CCA all-region teams are voted on by sports information directors at each of the NCAA D2 schools and the three conference offices in the West Region.

Klie, out of Anchorage, Alaska, is now eligible for D2CCA All-America accolades. Those honorees will be announced on Monday, March 20.

The top-seeded and 19th-ranked Tritons take on Chico State, the sixth seed, Monday night (7 p.m.) in the West Regional championship game at RIMAC Arena. The winner advances to the NCAA Elite Eight, March 22-25 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
