Klie Earns NABC All-West District First Team Honors, Will Play in Division II All-Star Game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior guard Adam Klie of the University of California San Diego has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-West District First Team and will compete in the Division II College All-Star Game.

Klie led UC San Diego in scoring (15.5 points/game), rebounding (6.3/game), assists (4.7/game), and steals (0.8/game). He totaled 10 or more points in 28 of 33 games played, with 20-plus points on 10 occasions.

This season, Klie became UCSD's Division II-era (since 2000-01) leader in career points (1,524), rebounds (625), field goals made (561), field goals attempted (1,084), free throws attempted (527), games played (118) and minutes played (3,510).

Also in 2017, Klie was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Year and was a Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-West Region First Team pick. A bioengineering major with a 4.0 GPA, he was tabbed the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America of the Year for Division II men's basketball.

Klie played a pivotal role in UCSD's historic season. The Tritons set program records for wins (27) and CCAA victories (17) and captured their first ever conference regular season championship. They went on to earn the league tournament title and advanced to the West Region championship game (Sweet 16) for the second consecutive year.

A total of 88 Division II players around the nation were named to NABC All-District first and second teams. The organization will announce its All-American selections on Tuesday, March 21.

Klie was also invited to compete in the Reese's Division II All-Star Game, which will be played as part of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship.

The teams are composed of two senior student-athletes from each of the eight Division II regions as well as five senior at-large selections. Klie and Western Washington guard Taylor Stafford will represent the West Region.

The Reese’s Division II College All-Star game will take place on Friday, March 24, at 5:00 p.m. (PT), at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
