UCSD Eighth After First Day of Play at SoCal Intercollegiate

SANTEE, Calif. - The University of California San Diego men's golf team is in eighth place of 15 squads following Monday's two rounds of play at the 67th Annual SoCal Intercollegiate at Carlton Oaks Golf Course. 

UC San Diego, which is hosting the tournament, totaled a 602, 26-over par, after shooting a 300 in round one and a 302 in round two.

Freshman Hayden Hui and classmate Adam Navigato (Solana Beach/Torrey Pines HS) are tied for 21st as the top Tritons thus far, both with a 6-over 150. Hui shot 71-79, while Navigato carded a pair of 75s. Hui's 71 was the low round of the day for UCSD.

Also playing for UC San Diego are senior Drew Robbins (T-38th, 78-74--152), junior Mateusz Kucz (T-50th, 76-78--154) and freshman James Kressinger-Dunn (T-50th, 79-75--154).

Cal State San Marcos is the team leader with a 3-over 579 as the Cougars shot 294-285. They were fifth after the opening round. Sonoma State (584, +8) is second and Cal State Monterey Bay (585, +9) is third.

Ryan Bisharat (73-67) of Cal State San Marcos and Colin Prater (72-68) of Colorado-Colorado Springs are tied for the individual lead in the 75-player field, each with a 4-under 140. Bisharat was tied for 15th and Prater was tied for ninth after the first round.

Bisharat and Cal State Monterey Bay's Callum Carlstrom each shot 67 in round two, the best of the day. Carlstrom's solid second round moved him up from a tie for 40th to fourth.

Just four players are currently under par.

Tuesday's third and final round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. on the par-72, 6,781-yard layout at Carlton Oaks.
