Kelsi Maday Named CCAA Player of the Week For Second Time

SAN RAMON, Calif. - Junior outfielder Kelsi Maday of the University of California San Diego softball team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the week for the second time this season, for April 4-11. The conference announced its selections Tuesday.

Maday assisted UC San Diego to a 5-5 week including a 4-2 record at the Tournament of Champions. After its 10-game week UCSD moved to 19-17 on the season.

The Napa product hit .469 with 15 hits, 10 runs, three RBI, three doubles and a home run over 10 games. She also stole a team-high nine bases to increase her season total to 31. In the Tritons 7-2 win over Northwest Nazarene, Maday went a perfect three-for-three at the plate with two runs, an RBI and a double. She recorded a hit in eight of 10 games and had 12 putouts in the outfield.

In UCSD's four-game series at Sonoma State, she went eight-for-14 and tallied four runs, two doubles, two RBI and a home run.

It is Maday's second time this season receiving the conference's weekly award after earning it for the week of Feb. 21-28. She also grabbed the honor during the 2016 season (for the week of Feb. 9).

UC San Diego (19-17, 10-14 CCAA) hosts top-ranked CCAA rival Humboldt State (26-5, 14-4 CCAA) for a four-game series Apr. 7-8.
