LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior outfielder Kelsi Maday from the University of California San Diego softball team has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region team. The announcement was made Wednesday by the NFCA.

NFCA member coaches in the eight regions selected this year's All-region teams and the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three NFCA Division II All-American squads. This year's All-Region squads are comprised of 201 student-athletes from 116 programs.

Maday, a second team selection, started all 52 games for UC San Diego in center field. She led the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in sacrifice flies with five, tied for 12th most in the nation. Maday paced the roster and finished second in the conference in batting average (.395), doubles (13) and stolen bases (42). Her 44 runs, 37 RBI and .468 on base percentage were good for first on the team.

The Napa native became UCSD's all-time single season and career leader in steals with 42 for the season and 94 in her three years as a Triton. Her 0.81 stolen bases per game average ranks her eighth in the nation.

It is Maday's second All-West Region honor after receiving the award in 2016. She was also named to the All-CCAA First Team last week.

UC San Diego finished its season 30-22 and 21-19 in conference play.
