SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Several Tritons from the University of California San Diego men's and women's track and field teams competed at the All On the Line Qualifier for one last chance to improve or grab NCAA qualifying marks, Saturday at Westmont Track and Thorrington Field.
In the pole vault, senior Chrissi Carr won the event with an NCAA qualifying performance of 12'6.25”. She was just off her UCSD school record and automatic qualifying mark of 13'1.25”, set earlier this season. Carr is the only Triton to officially book her ticket to the NCAA Championships in Tampa. For the men, senior Tim Schmidt had a runner-up performance, clearing 15'3.75”.
Freshman Claudia Cox placed fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.78. On the men's side, freshman Josef Polk finished in 53.80 to take fourth place. In the 100 hurdles, sophomore Nicholas Rack got second in 14.63.
Senior Khalil Flemister finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 47'3.75”, just off his season best, first-place mark of 49'2.25” that he set at last week's CCAA Championships.
Junior Paul Doan had the top finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 10.83. Doan was slightly off of his record-setting, NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10.53 set earlier this year.
Senior Savanna Forry won the high jump with a mark of 5'5”. Her top performance this season was 5'8.75”.
Sophomore Esther Nofodji had a runner-up performance in the discus, with her best throw coming in at 142'0”.
Senior Ella Verhees ran the 800 in 2:19.96 to take ninth place.
Selected Tritons will compete at the NCAA Championships in Tampa, Fla., Thursday through Saturday, May 25-27. The list of national qualifiers will be announced on Tuesday, May 16, on NCAA.com via press release.
