Tritons Add Four Standouts to 2017-18 Roster

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The University of California San Diego men's basketball program has added four standout players that will join the team for the 2017-18 season. The announcement was made Thursday by head coach Eric Olen.

The incoming class includes two guards and two forwards. Three are true freshmen and one enters UC San Diego as a junior transfer from fellow California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) member Stanislaus State.

"I'm thrilled to welcome these four outstanding individuals to the Triton Family," said Olen. "I look forward to working wth them to reach their potential on and off he court. All of these guys are talented players who will be terrific representatives of our program. They bring all of the attributes we look for and will continue to raise the level of UCSD Basketball."

Christian Bayne
6-2 • Guard
Bakersfield, Calif.
Stanislaus State/Stockdale HS
- Second Team All-CCAA as a sophomore in 2015-16
- Led Warriors in scoring (15.2), assists (4.0), steals (1.3), three-pointers (2.1), three-point percentage (.393), and free throw percentage (.885) and was third in rebounding (5.8) in 2015-16
- Averaged 6.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists as a freshman in 2014-15
- Played in all 54 of Stanislaus State's games over his two seasons
- Southwest Yosemite League MVP as a high school senior

Kennedy Koehler
6-7 • Forward
Henderson, Nev.
Coronado High School
- Southeast League and Sunrise Region MVP
- Averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds as a senior
- Coronado High School's all-time leading scorer
- Team went 30-0 in league games during his career
- CHS won back-to-back Sunrise Region championships during his time

Tyrell Roberts
5-11 • Guard
Roseville, Calif.
Woodcreek High School
- First Team All-Sierra Foothill League
- Third Team All-Norcal (Norcal Preps)
- Averaged 13 points and 6 assists as a senior
- Two-time All-Star Game MVP (Optimist Game and Norcal Sports TV All-Norcal Game)
- Woodcreek went 32-3 his senior year
- Team won San Joaquin Section Division 1 and Norcal Open Division Championships

Martin Tombe
6-5 • Forward
San Diego
St. Augustine High School

- Four-year varsity player
- Second Team All-CIF San Diego Section
- Two-time First Team All-Western League
- Averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds as a senior
- Team won San Diego Open Division championship in 2015
- St. Augustine won 106 games during his career

UC San Diego is coming off its most successful season ever, setting program highs for wins (27) and CCAA victories (17). The Tritons, ranked as high as No. 11 in the nation, won their first ever CCAA regular season title as well as their second league tournament crown before advancing to the NCAA West Region championship game for the second consecutive year.
