Fencer David Hadler Named a San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month
SAN DIEGO - University of California San Diego fencer David Hadler has been selected as a Star of the Month for August by the San Diego Hall of Champions. The announcement was made Tuesday.
Hadler, competing for Chinese Taipei, finished 24th among 69 competitors in Men's Foil at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan.
Hadler began competition by posting a 4-2 record in pool action. He then won his first direct elimination bout against Portugal's Pedro Macedo before losing to Japan's Kyosuke Matsuyama, the eventual silver medalist.
Heading into his senior season, Hadler is a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier for the Tritons. In 2017, he finished a career-best 10th at nationals, earning All-America status.
