Position: Senior Associate AD - Corporate Partnerships & Development

Tod Bannister was named UC San Diego's Associate Athletics Director for Corporate Partnerships and Development in September 2017.

Bannister brings several years of development and corporate partnership experience to UCSD. He spent the previous three years at UNLV (2014-17), first as Director of Sponsorships and Development for the Alumni Association and Athletics, before being promoted to Associate Athletic Director. As Associate AD, Bannister was responsible for all donor fulfillments and the stewardship of 2,500 donors to the Rebel Athletic Fund. He generated over $3.2 million in annual contributions, assisted with the fundraising efforts for construction of the $28 million Fertitta Football Complex and oversaw the Runnin' Rebel Basketball Club that brought in over $500,000 annually for the UNLV basketball program.

Prior to his time in Las Vegas, Bannister served three years as Senior Associate Athletic Director at San Jose State University (2011-14). At SJSU, Bannister closed a $2.5 million blended gift shared between athletics and the Alumni Association, and closed gifts totaling over $3.2 million within the first year. In addition, he oversaw San Jose State's ticket office and marketing operations, assisted coaches in soliciting gifts from specific donors and worked with Learfield Properties on corporate sponsorship proposals.

Bannister is no stranger to the University of California system, as he spent time at UC Berkeley and UCLA early in his career. At UC Berkeley (2007-10), Bannister held the title of Executive Director of the Bear Backer Organization and Senior Major Gift Officer. During this time, he set consecutive annual records in scholarship dollars raised and led the athletic program in becoming the top fundraising unit on campus.

He eventually moved on to UCLA (2010-11), where Bannister was Director of the Wooden Athletic Fund. While there, he prepared and managed an annual operating strategy and aligned its objectives with the larger university strategic fundraising plan. In addition, he worked tirelessly to increase the fund's visibility through creating a new logo and launching its own website.

A native of Sacramento, Bannister is a graduate of California State University Sacramento, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science.
