Ella Verhees Named CCAA Runner of the Week

SAN RAMON, Calif. - University of California San Diego senior Ella Verhees (San Diego/Point Loma HS) has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Runner of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Verhees finished first among all collegiate runners in the 25th annual Triton Classic on Saturday, posting a time of 22-minutes, 8.3-seconds to lead UC San Diego to a second-place team finish. It was her fastest time of the season in a 6K competition.

The San Diego native has recorded four-consecutive first-place team finishes for the Tritons, and has placed among the top two for UC San Diego in each of the five meets she has competed in this season. In addition, Verhees has earned three top-10 overall individual finishes.

Verhees and the Tritons return to action on Oct. 21 at the CCAA Championships in Turlock.
