UC San Diego Soccer Games at Sonoma State This Sunday Postponed by Wildfires
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Due to unhealthy air quality levels and the continuing threat of wildfires in Sonoma County, the Sonoma State University athletic department on Tuesday evening decided to cancel all athletics-related events through Sunday, to include the University of California San Diego's soccer doubleheader on that campus this Sunday afternoon, Oct. 15.
Any potential makeup date will be announced if and when agreed upon, during the short two weeks that will remain of the regular season, within California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regulations and with respect to the best interests of all student-athletes involved.
In the meantime, the eighth-ranked, first-place UC San Diego women (11-2, 8-0 CCAA) and second-place Triton men (7-1-4, 5-1-2 CCAA) are en route Wednesday to the extreme northern end of the state of California, to Arcata, to take on the Humboldt State Lumberjacks on Friday afternoon, Oct. 13. The women's game will lead off that doubleheader at 12:30 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 3 p.m. Both squads will return to La Jolla on Saturday.
