SAN RAMON, Calif. - University of California San Diego women's volleyball student-athlete Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week. The conference announced the honor Tuesday.
Over three CCAA matches in which UC San Diego went 2-1, Colla led the Tritons in kills (46), kills/set (4.2), attack percentage (.290), points (49), and points/set (4.5).
The senior outside hitter established new career-highs with 24.5 points and 23 kills against league rival Cal State San Bernardino. Both of those totals were also match-highs and the 23 kills were the most by a Triton in a single match since 2015.
Against Cal Poly Pomona, the Carlsbad native totaled match-highs with 19.0 points and 17 kills. She was named the Reis Cup MVP for her performance against the Broncos.
Colla recorded two double-doubles on the week, giving her a team-best 13 for the season.
It is the first career CCAA Player of the Week honor for Colla.
In a battle of the league's division leaders, UCSD plays at Sonoma State on Friday, Oct. 20. The Tritons then travel to San Francisco State on Saturday, Oct. 21. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
