SAN RAMON, Calif. — University of California San Diego women’s basketball sophomore forward Mikayla Williams has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Williams averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting an incredible 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the field in two CCAA victories last week. The sophomore scored 21 points with nine rebounds in a 90-63 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb
Williams also sank 11-of-13 free-throws over the weekend and recorded two blocks and two steals. She has scored in double figures in 16-consecutive games, while also finishing the regular season ranked second in the conference in field-goal percentage (54.9), seventh in points per game (15.4) and sixth in rebounds per game (9.2).
No. 25 UC San Diego (25-3, 21-1 CCAA) begins CCAA Tournament play tonight on Tuesday, Feb. 27, as the No. 1-seeded Tritons play host to No. 8 seed Sonoma State at RIMAC Arena beginning at 5:30 p.m.
