LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 25th-ranked University of California San Diego softball team used nine runs of offense on a rainy Saturday morning to win the fourth and final game and sweep the series with Cal State East Bay.

The Triton lineup manufactured nine hits and eight walks, while the trio of sophomore Alanna Phillips, junior Kristyana Boghossian and freshman Robyn Wampler pitched well in a combined effort.

UC San Diego (19-4, 12-4) has now won ten-straight games, not losing since a road game at Humboldt State on February 17. The ten-consecutive wins is just five shy of the program record of 15, set in 1988.

Senior Kendall Baker reached base and scored three times and freshman Bobbi Aguirre drove in her CCAA league-leading 28th and 29th RBI's in the 9-3 victory.

The Tritons got ahead early, needing only one base hit (Baker double to left center) in the first inning to jump ahead 3-0 by way of three Pioneer wild pitches.

Sophomore Danica Kazakoff drove in classmate Mikaila Reyes (San Diego/Torrey Pines HS) the following inning with an RBI single up the middle to make the score 4-0.

UC San Diego led 4-2 in the fourth inning when Baker, Kazakoff and junior Maddy Lewis each walked with one down. The next at-bat saw Aguirre drive in two with a double to deep center-field.

An inning later, Baker drove in one and Lewis drove in two to push their lead to 9-2 en route to the win.

Phillips started the game inside the circle and pitched two innings allowing two earned runs on five hits. Boghossian (2-0) was impressive in three scoreless innings of relief allowing just one hit and walking one. Wampler pitched the final two innings surrendering an unearned run and striking out two.
