SAN RAMON, Calif. - Outfielder Kelsi Maday was named Most Valuable Player and pitcher Robyn Wampler was tabbed Freshman of the Year as five University of California San Diego softball players earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) recognition for their outstanding play during the 2018 season. The conference announced its annual award recipients Friday on the opening day of its postseason tournament.

Joining Maday and Wampler on the All-CCAA First Team were designated player Sherriah Harrington (Chula Vista/Eastlake HS) and third baseman Maddy Lewis. Catcher Bobbi Aguirre was selected to the All-CCAA Second Team.

Over 48 games, Maday is batting .374 with 37 runs scored, six home runs, and 31 RBI. The senior leads the Tritons with 28 stolen bases and 12 sacrifices and is tied for the team lead in runs. Nationally, Maday ranks 15th in sacrifice flies (5) and 52nd in steals/game (.58). Among all CCAA players, she is third in steals, sixth in batting average, eighth in runs, and ninth in home runs. This season, Maday has 11 multiple-hit and eight multiple-RBI games to her credit. She recorded a 13-game hit streak and a 20-game reached base streak.

Maday was named the CCAA Player of the Week on Feb. 20. She was an All-CCAA First Team performer and All-West Region selection in 2016 and 2017.

Hailing from Napa, Maday is a Human Development major at UC San Diego's Roosevelt College.

Wampler has been outstanding in her first season as a Triton, collecting four CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors. The left-hander leads the league in victories (23), shutouts (6), strikeouts (169), and saves (5) and is second in ERA (1.32) and complete games (19). Nationally, she ranks ninth in wins, 10th in saves, 22nd in ERA, and 28th in shutouts. Wampler has fanned at least 10 batters on four occasions, including a career-best 12 at Cal State Dominguez Hills on April 27.

From Berkeley, Wampler is majoring in International Business while in UC San Diego's Sixth College.

A San Diego County native, Harrington has been a force at the plate for the Tritons, leading the CCAA with her .423 batting average. She is slugging .654, a team-best, with seven doubles, a triple and five home runs in 104 at-bats. Harrington's slugging percentage is third in the conference and her .483 on-base percentage is fifth. She has produced 16 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games this year.

A freshman, Harrington is a Human Biology major in Revelle College.

Lewis leads the Tritons in several statistical categories including doubles (10), triples (2), walks (22), and on-base percentage (.490). In the CCAA, the junior ranks fourth in batting average (.381) and on-base percentage and is ninth in triples. Lewis has 10 multiple-hit and six multiple-RBI games this season. She put together a nine-game hit streak and a 20-game reached base streak.

As a freshman in 2016, Lewis was named CCAA Freshman of the Year, All-CCAA First Team, and All-West Region. She was a finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year.

Lewis is a Communication major in Sixth College at UC San Diego.

Aguirre is the third Triton freshman to pick up All-CCAA honors this season. Over 48 games, she has 50 hits with eight home runs, 48 RBI, and 79 total bases - all of those team-highs. In the CCAA, she is second in RBI, fifth in home runs, and seventh in batting average (.370) and slugging (.585). Aguirre has 12 multi-hit and 13 multi-RBI games this season, as well as a 10-game hit streak. She went 4-for-4 and knocked in five runs in a win at fifth-ranked Humboldt State in February.

Aguirre was named the CCAA Player of the Week on Feb. 27.

Out of Chino Hills, Aguirre is a Human Biology major at UC San Diego's Revelle College.

Second-seeded UC San Diego (34-15), ranked 20th nationally and fourth in the West Region, takes on third-seeded Stanislaus State (32-20) in the opening round of the CCAA Championship Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Simoni Field on the campus of the University of the Pacific. Chico State is the top seed and Cal State San Bernardino is the fourth seed in the four-team, double-elimination tournament.

The tourney continues Saturday and concludes Sunday. All of the games can be followed with live stats and live video.

The winner of the CCAA Championship earns the league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.
